Our Walk Along the Camino Frances

The Way to Santiago Pilgrimage on the Way of St. James This morning we woke up early, well-rested and excited to set out and resume our hike. With that said, I have to admit that it is very hard to wake up to an alarm clock and decide to leave a regular bed with duvets for 5 hours of walking in the heat. Regardless, by 5:30 we were packed, checked out, and hiking towards the edge of Burgos. While it was nice to stop in a city with amenities, showers, and privacy, the noise and pace of urbanization soon had us eager to leave   Departing Burgos  We walked through a set of historical gates, shown in the film "The Way," and after a short jaunt along city streets, passed the University of Burgos. Day of Exploration and Rest Wandering Burgos Spain  This morning began gloriously at 7:30 AM when we awoke with no noise, no rush, and no need to move on, given that we had decided to remain in Burgos an extra day. We lounged until 8:30 in bed, whereupon we eventually got up, dressed, and went to the hotel lounge to enjoy breakfast. All wonderful, almost forgotten experiences - privacy, morning showers, no need to hike, large breakfasts!  While we enjoyed ourselves, we were nonetheless stunned to find that our morning coffee, toast, eggs, and glasses of orange juice came to 25 Euros/per person. The 50 Euros we paid for this scant meal were more than we usually spent for a day's hiking, treats en route, our nightly lodgings, and dinner combined.
